Why Super Shitty Art?
We think everyone has an inner shitty artist, but often they psych themselves out of creating outside of their medium. But by creating and sharing our shitty art, we hope to inspire each other and make the world a better place.

The Backstory:

Mercury Studio member Eri Yokoyama wanted to make an animated film. But she didn’t know how to draw. So she decided to draw for 30-minutes each day. For a year. Eri writes with her right hand, but she made her drawings with her left.  Eri called her project “Super Shitty Art” because the name was funny and because she knew she needed to approach her drawings with no expectations. The process had to be fun and spontaneous and not painful or stressful, because otherwise she knew she wouldn't do it.

In this spirit, Mercury Studio is launching its first annual Super Shitty Art Show. Mercury Studio members and The Makery vendors will share their most authentic shitty art, for the first time in public.

Check out some artwork by your fellow shitty artists, and be inspired to create your own shitty art and start sharing with others. You have an inner shitty artist inside of you. Now more than ever, the world needs you and your shitty art.  Super Shitty Art is full of surprises. You might like it. You might hate it. Who knows
